Traffic collision in north Peoria results in fatality
Posted
A traffic accident that happened in north Peoria resulted in a fatality, police said.
Members of the Peoria Police and Peoria Fire-Medical departments responded to an automobile accident in the middle of the intersection at State Route 74 and Lake Pleasant Parkway, at about 9 p.m., June 23.
The accident involved two vehicles, a 2008 gray Jeep Wrangler and a 1989 yellow Harley Davidson.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the gray Jeep was turning left onto Lake Pleasant to head southbound from State Route 74. The motorcycle was heading eastbound on State Route 74 when the Jeep turned in front of the motorcycle causing this collision.
Police said the motorcycle driver sustained significant injuries and died on scene. The driver has been identified as 64-year-old Daniel Crossett from Black Canyon City, Arizona.
The driver of the gray Jeep was not injured and remained on scene throughout the investigation.
The intersection was closed for several hours during the investigation but was open for normal traffic at about 2 a.m.
The incident is still being investigated by the Peoria Police Department’s traffic services unit; however, there is no indication that the driver of the gray Jeep was impaired. This appears to be a tragic accident; no arrests have been made, and no citations have been issued, police said.
