The Town of Paradise Valley held firm to its belief in humanity as the 23rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration was held virtually Jan. 18 with awards and words of encouragement on improving race relations.
Like so many other events in the world, organizers arranged for the program to be online rather than in person for safety precautions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, minus the meal and association, the program took place with Mayor Jerry Bien-Willner and Shohreh Varahmyan, the chair of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Paradise Valley, addressing viewers, recognizing students whose winning essays on doing the right thing exemplified the theme: “Belief into Action — Doing the right thing.”
