Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream offering free scoops during Scottsdale grand opening

Posted

Newly-opened Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream, 3712 N. Scottsdale Road, Suite #105, is sharing a big scoop during its Sept. 22 grand opening party, where customers can receive a free scoop of ice cream in their flavor of choice.

The grand opening of this first-ever concept takes place on National Ice Cream Cone Day, and during the party, Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega will serve a ceremonial “first scoop” to a customer in lieu of a ribbon cutting. Guests can also provide an optional donation to benefit Banner Children’s medical centers in Arizona.

“We’re excited to sweeten up Old Town Scottsdale with our premium treats and birthday cheer,” said Tom Medrano, founder of Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream.

The Sept. 22 grand opening will last from 8:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. During the event, customers will be encouraged to donate to Banner Children’s via the organization’s secure QR code. Medrano is a former Banner Health patient and intends to make regular donations throughout the year to the hospital through his new business.

Medrano was inspired by the old-timey aesthetic and whimsy of Farrell’s, a chain of ice cream parlors popular in the 1970s and ‘80s. Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream is the only shop in Maricopa County serving Hershey’s brand ice cream (not affiliated with the chocolate company of the same name), as well as a selection of handmade ice cream cakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, Italian ice, soda floats, waffles, eclectic sundaes and more. All ice cream is certified kosher, and the menu boasts vegan and gluten-free offerings to suit a variety of dietary preferences.

Guests can register for the Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream Birthday Club on the store website or while visiting the Old Town Scottsdale location. Birthday Club members can receive a free ice cream sundae, kazoo and birthday hat on their special day. Children age 1-7 can receive a free novelty clown sundae. Ready-made cakes and treats like ice cream sandwiches are available for pickup, and delivery via third party apps DoorDash and Grubhub is also available.
