Tolleson boy hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot wound

A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest in Tolleson on Sunday evening, according to Tolleson police.

Authorities on the scene said the boy received the wound after “playing” with the handgun with a friend.

The boy was taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and was in stable and cognitive condition, according to police.
