And just like that, a Peoria family with no knowledge of organ donation or transplant are forever changed by the selfless act of three complete strangers giving the gift of life. Not one or two, but all three children have new life beating inside of them by way of heart transplants.
Jason and Sara Siqueiros learned in January 2018, their 2-year-old daughter Isabel was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy and at the same time had 4-month-old twins. This is an uncommon type of cardiomyopathy and occurs when the heart muscles of the venticles become too stiff and the ventricles don’t relax to fill with blood between heartbeats. And, according to Phoenix Children’s Hospital website, this condition rarely occurs in children.
Isabel was listed for transplant March 15, 2018 and two months later received a heart. Just six months later, one of her twin-brothers Jason Jr. suffered a cardiac arrest and was outfitted with a pacemaker. He was listed for transplant June 9 after a severe 40-minute cardiac arrest and got his new heart June 30. Jaxon was outfitted as well with a pacemaker November 26 and was listed June 17, 2020. The third transplant for the Siqueiros family was successfully completed on Jaxon Sept. 22, 2020.
