Three pedestrian-involved accidents highlight need for precautions in Sun City West

Drivers must be vigilant on the roads

Safeguarding pedestrians and pets is a major concern in Sun City West.

Sun City West Posse Cmdr. Carolyn Patterson, Duty Officer John Merkel and Public Information Officer Sheila Duke are warning pedestrians walking with or without pets in the community. Patterson said the attention is not only going to pets, but also the pedestrians and drivers.

“We are trying to find out why drivers are not seeing them. Is the driver distracted? Is it because the pedestrian is wearing dark clothes? Where is the awareness of the driver?” said Patterson.
