Authorities said three people were injured in a transformer fire in Glendale.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Monday near 67th and Olive avenues.

Glendale Fire said three workers sustained burns while working on a transformer. Salt River Project said the contract crew had been hired by SRP to work on the transformer.

SRP said a 60-year-old man and a 39-year-old man had severe burns and were airlifted to a hospital. A 23-year-old male worker had moderate burns and was transported by ground.

The intersection of 67th and Olive was closed as officials investigated and cleared the area. The intersection reopened before noon Monday.

The cause of the transformer fire is under investigation.
