The streets around Phoenix Goodyear Airport were crowded but orderly Wednesday, Oct. 28, as thousands of people descended on the area for their chance to see President Donald J. Trump at one of two campaign rallies he held in the state. The other was held in Bullhead City in the morning.
Rally organizers set up a shuttle service from dirt lots at Litchfield Road and Wigwam Boulevard to transport people to the airport in 56-passenger buses, drawing more than 1,200 vehicles to the area around Litchfield Park City Hall.
Many rally-goers stood in groups before boarding shuttles. Some wore masks and some did not; the same was true of bus drivers, who drove back and forth between the two sites beginning a couple of hours before the 11:30 a.m. gate opening for the 2:30 p.m. event.
