Thomas L. Woolard, 86Thomas L. Woolard, 86, a resident of the Sun Cities since 1984, died Aug. 4 at Del Webb Hospital. He was born July 11, 1922 in Terre Haute, Ind. to Walter Otto and Jessie (Utt) Woolard. He served with the U.S. Army Signal Corp. in the South Pacific during World War II and was wounded in combat. He married Margaret Jean Conner of Hammond, Ind. upon returning home in 1946. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on a track scholarship prior to his military service and later the Illinois Institute of Technology and Harvard Business School. He was employed for 37 years by R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Chicago and Crawfordsville, Ind., where he retired as a plant engineering manager. He belonged to various organizations including the American Institute of Plant Engineers, Technical Association of the Graphic Arts and Junior Achievement. A quiet man respected by all, he was active in golf events and a member of Palmbrook Country Club of Sun City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Peg) in 1987. He suffered from dementia for the past nine years and resided at Clare Bridge in Sun City West for the past year. He is survived by sons, Thomas of Sun City West, David of Tempe and Robert of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Walter of Apache Junction; sister, Marjorie (Schieve) of Crown Point, Ind. Burial will be in Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City.
