Thomas "Tom" James Franklin, 85, had his heavenly homecoming on March 17, 2018, after a valiant battle with a long illness. His devotion to his family, friends and his firm belief in God supported him and ultimately gave him peace.Tom was born to the late Thomas and Florence Franklin in Detroit, MI on November 23, 1932. He was immersed in the Christian community, that would be his lifelong support from an early age - spending many summers at church camp, where he was baptized by his Uncle Lee and gave his life to the Lord. Tom was blessed with a large and loving family. After serving in the Marine Corp during the Korean War, he married his best friend, Marsha Eileen McCally, on August 27, 1955 in Detroit, MI. Tom and Marsha raised their 3 children with patience, discipline, humility and Christian values. Together they shared in long family camping trips all over the country and spent many afternoons sharing meals and laughs with those he loved and kept dear. Keeping in touch with family and friends was very important to Tom.After 30 years with the Ford Motor Company, Tom retired and he and Marsha have split their time between Clare, MI on Bailey Lake and Sun City West, AZ. Tom was an avid golfer, traveler, hiker and answered the call to go on many mission trips throughout the US and Mexico. He was kind, had a smile that filled the room and a compassionate heart that was evidenced by all he came in contact with.Tom is survived by his wife, Marsha; his daughters Martha (Phil Daigneau), Marjorie (Jeff Mois) and his son Ken (Susan). Please join Thomas's family in sharing memories, pictures, or videos on his tribute wall at www.caminodelsol.com
