Thomas B. Gay

APACHE JUNCTION - Thomas B. Gay, of Midland, died Friday evening March 14, 2014 at the Toni and Trish House in Auburn. He was born Jan. 28, 1941 in Pontiac, son of the late James and Martha Eleanor (McLarty) Gay. Thomas was raised in Boyne City and had been a certified pipefitter/welder and member of U.A. Local #85. On April 3, 1976 he married the former Sally Kelly in Flushing. Thomas was highly respected in the community for his horsemanship and had been an original founding member of the 'St. Jude's Ride'. He had been an avid coon hunter, a follower or God, and was a life member of the Midland Eagles Lodge 2110. Thomas was a sponsor/supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, and had been a friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Sally of Midland; sons, James Gay and Aaron Gay; and honorary son Chad Sandow, all of Midland, and daughter Deborah (Jason) Saunders of Sanford. Thomas is also survived by his grandchildren, Aubrianah and Arianah Kortge, Tanlyn Saunders, Alexis Spears, Mason Saunders, Jordon Saenz, Madix Saunders, Treigh Saunders, Conway Kelly, Myson Saunders; sister, Carol (Dick) Hutchinson of Missouri; his aunt, Winifred Strang; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Rebekah Gay on Oct. 31, 2012; a brother, S. Edward Gay, and a sister, Shirley Skrine. Funeral services for Thomas have taken place with interment in Jerome Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider 'Justice for Rebekah Gay' in care of Sally Gay.
