Theft at Sun City thrift store thwarted

Suspect flees scene

An attempted theft at the Lutheran Thrift Store, 10615 W. Peoria Ave., was thwarted, but the suspected thief eluded capture.

Thrift store officials had a new bicycle they were raffling as a fundraiser. A man wearing a medical mask entered the store March 6 and attempted to take the bike, according to Lynn Morey, the store’s Monday and Wednesday manager.

“I tackled him at the door and got the bike back, but he ran off,” she explained.
