The Watermark at Morrison Ranch in Gilbert to mark Veterans Day

Posted

Veterans will be honored by their friends, family and community during The Watermark at Morrison Ranch’s Veterans Day Celebration and Awards Ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

The celebration will feature a bagpiper, a flag presentation, and recognition of the community’s 21 residents who served in the military.

Lance Corporal Nevada Walter, a former marine and resident at The Watermark at Morrison Ranch, 3333 E. Morrison Ranch Parkway, Gillbert will participate in the flag presentation with  San Tan Charter High School’s Jr. ROTC.

Walter, 83, was assistant to the general from 1957-60 and played on the All-Marine Women’s Basketball Team– a traveling team that would compete at other military bases.

Walter received the same military training as the men and will always remember her dog tag number.

She graduated from Arizona State University with a doctorate degree in clinical physiology.
