Honoring America’s Veterans Executive Director Paula Pedene has one request for Veterans Day - get out and show your gratitude.
“People in the community may not think it means anything if they go to another parade but I have to tell them, it truly touches the lives of our veterans when the community comes out, waves a flag, brings a banner, waves to them and says thank you,” Pedene said. “It means so much to them, it really does.
“We had no idea when we started (Phoenix’s Veterans Day) parade 28 years ago the healing and the community engagement and the patriotic spirit it would fill.”
