The Nash marks 14 years of jazz in Phoenix

Three-day anniversary weekend brings nationally known musicians to Roosevelt Row club

The Nash will celebrate its 14th anniversary with three days of jazz Nov. 6-8 at its downtown Phoenix club, bringing together nationally recognized musicians and local performers for concerts and a closing-night jam session.

The weekend opens Friday, Nov. 6, with The Nash Collective, the club’s rotating all-star ensemble. The lineup includes saxophonist and vocalist Camille Thurman, trumpeter Ashlin Parker, saxophonist Clark Gibson, guitarist Paul Bollenback, pianist Rachel Eckroth, bassist Corcoran Holt and Phoenix native Lewis Nash, the acclaimed drummer for whom the club is named. Performances are at 7 and 9 p.m.

Saturday’s 7 and 9 p.m. performances feature Something Else!, a soul-jazz group led by alto saxophonist Vincent Herring. The seven-member ensemble, which also includes Nash on drums, draws from jazz, soul, R&B and funk and performs music associated with artists including Freddie Hubbard, George Benson and Horace Silver along with original compositions.
