The Grove announces new restaurant concept Pyro as latest tenant

RED Development to bring new Japanese bistro to Valley

RED Development has announced the new independent restaurant concept Pyro, a Japanese bistro, will make its debut as the first dining establishment coming to The Grove, a $400 million mixed-use destination on the northwest corner of 44th Street and Camelback Road.

Pyro will feature an open-flame concept for its menu with sustainably-sourced seafood and proteins. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant will use fire to achieve different layers and textures across its vast selections, ensuring each dish has a distinctive flavor.

The new establishment is an original concept by Flagship Restaurant Group, a leading hospitality group with over 30 restaurants and another 10 in development in more than a dozen markets ranging from Phoenix to Chicago, Nashville, Denver and Austin, according to a press release.

The 4,200-square-foot space will include a cocktail bar, boasting a wide range of spirits, wine, innovative cocktails and trendy takes on the classics, along with a large outdoor patio complete with an open hearth. Flagship’s co-owner and president, Tom Allisma, an architect by trade, is at the helm of managing the design process along with the group’s art director, Haylie Rousek. AvroKO, one of the world’s most prestigious hospitality design firms, is leading the project.

“The Flagship Restaurant Group team and I are very excited to bring Pyro to The Grove,” said Nick Hogan, CEO and co-founder of Flagship Restaurant Group. “We felt that it was the right time to bring our brand-new concept to this location, as there is much development taking place in-market and residents and travelers in Phoenix are always looking for the right mix of creativity coupled with responsibly-sourced fare. Everything we serve our guests is fully transparent, from the farms the vegetables come from to the areas where each of our fish is sourced. We are looking forward to another new chapter in the city.”

Located at one of the Valley’s high-profile intersections, Pyro marks the first independent restaurant lease for The Grove. Pyro is the latest in the restaurant group’s first foray into the market having recently opened Châm Pang Lanes, Palma and Ghost Donkey in the Roosevelt Row Arts District.

“The Grove is dedicated to bringing innovative and exclusive dining options to the Valley with a sophisticated flair,” said Mike Ebert, managing partner at RED Development. “Pyro is setting the standard for the caliber of culinary offerings we’ll be welcoming at The Grove, we couldn’t be more honored to announce an original concept as the first restaurant to call it home.”
