The cost of a convenient narrative at Peoria Unified 

Proudfit: Protecting children and protecting the truth are not competing values

OPINION — Every allegation deserves to be taken seriously. Every child deserves to be protected. Every accused person deserves due process. And every community deserves the truth.

As both a parent and a Peoria Unified Governing Board member, I believe student safety must always come first. That responsibility is not negotiable.

But protecting children also requires protecting the truth.
