That time Paul McCartney filmed a video in a small Arizona town

Looking back 40 years when a Beatle turned up to film an obscure video for an obscure song in an obscure Arizona town

There’s no doubt that Paul McCartney has a well-chronicled history with Arizona.

His “Tucson, Arizona” lyric is front and center in the Beatles’ classic hit “Get Back.” Along with his late wife Linda, a University of Arizona alum, in 1979 he purchased a ranch on Tucson’s far east side near the Rincon Mountains’ foothills. Ironically – in the spirit of the two state schools’ rivalry – his current wife Nancy Shevell is an ASU alum, and Paul was in Tempe giving the “Forks Up” salute when Shevell was inducted into the W. P. Carey Alumni Hall of Fame in 2024.
