In Loving Memory of
Terry K. Embree Oliver, beloved wife, sister, aunt, friend, and community member, passed away peacefully at home with her husband, David, at her side, on June 5, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in Newton, Kansas on August 5, 1951, her life was marked by purpose, laughter, and compassion.
Terry was the daughter of Hoy Dean Embree and Evangeline Glynn Pulver Embree, and she was predeceased by her older brother, Herb Thompson. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Oliver, her older brother, Kenneth Embree (Jan), younger brother, Wayne Embree (Sharon), and her younger sister Mary Boettcher (Roger), and many cherished nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
Terry spent her early years in Kansas, Arkansas, and Oregon, graduating from high school in Dallas, Oregon. She went on to work at U.S. Bank in Portland before moving to Southern California, where she built a respected career in employee benefit plan sales and management. Even in her later years, she continued to assist long-time clients and friends with her characteristic sharp mind and organizational finesse.
In 1998, Terry and David made Sun City, Arizona, their home. There, she became a vibrant part of the community. She volunteered with the Sun City Posse, notably in the Vacation Watch program, and was an active and enthusiastic member of the Sun City Elks Club.
Terry was known for her dry wit, her deep kindness, and her remarkable capacity for caring. She was the kind of person people were drawn to: fun, loyal, and insightful, with a talent for making others feel seen and supported. Terry enjoyed golf, reading mysteries, traveling—especially visiting dear friends in Tennessee—and exploring spiritual meaning and quality of life.
Terry’s life will be honored in a celebration of life to be held in the fall of 2025. Details will be shared once finalized.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Sun City Posse or the Sun City Chapter of the Elks Club—two organizations that meant a great deal to her.
She lived her life with intention, generosity, and a quiet faith in something larger than the world around her.
She will be deeply missed.
