Terrible’s hopes to make north Surprise area not so bad

Gas station, fast food joint are part of rezoned land

The Surprise City Council gave its approval of a new convenience store, fast food restaurant and retail building in the growing north area of the city.

The council agreed Aug. 4 to rezone the southeast corner of 163rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road from residential to community commercial to make way for a Terrible’s convenience store and other businesses, including possibly an auto parts store.

One of the current property owners, Matt Stevenson, told the council his group, 163 Surprise, is entertaining offers from a variety of businesses who want to move in.
