On a Wednesday night in later December, exasperated parents of the Tempe Union High School District held a rally outside of Compadre High School to voice complaints about the switch back to virtual learning.
The cause for concern? A Nov. 20 email from superintendent Kevin Mendivil announced all Tempe Union schools would be shifting to entirely virtual-based learning, ending the hybrid program for the remainder of this quarter.
“Please know that we do not take this decision lightly and that we are continuing to focus on delivering quality instruction in the virtual environment,” Mr. Mendivil said in the announcement.
