Tempe sees 38% decrease in COVID-19 cases

Omicron surge lessens, vaccinations increase

The city of Tempe is seeing a decline in COVID-19 cases as the omicron variant relinquishes some of its hold on the community.

The city reported Monday its cases are down by 38% this week, from more than 10,500 cases to about 6,600. That follows the national trend as omicron’s surge begins to slow.

The ZIP code 85282 counted the most cases with 2,353, followed by 85281 with 2,104 cases. The ZIP code 85283 had 1,548 while 85284 had just 590. Approximately 66.2% of all eligible Tempe residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the city.
