Locations are 1001 N. Rio Road (access drive north of Rio Salado Parkway and Hardy Drive) and the Benedict Sports Complex, 490 W. Guadalupe Road (northwest corner of Guadalupe and Kyrene roads, east side of parking lot).

Tempe invites residents to prepare for summer storms by filling up sandbags for free at two locations.
Sand and bags are available through Sept. 30, prior to a major storm - first-come, first-served.
Locations are 1001 N. Rio Road (access drive north of Rio Salado Parkway and Hardy Drive) and the Benedict Sports Complex, 490 W. Guadalupe Road (northwest corner of Guadalupe and Kyrene roads, east side of parking lot).
Some advice from the city:
Bring a shovel, gloves, protective eyewear and a helper.
Fill each sandbag one-half to two-thirds full, do not overfill.
