2020 task force continues building community trust amid public criticism

Throughout the Valley and country, trust between residents and their respective law enforcement officials teeters, compelling agencies like the Tempe Police Department to investigate areas where they can continue to improve.

2020 brought about more than just the coronavirus pandemic, with conversations of police misconduct and brutality coming to the forefront of the news cycle.

At that time, local municipalities were considering the best ways to attack their internal problems, with Tempe taking action to create the Public Safety Advisory Task Force, which Mayor Corey Woods formed to develop recommendations for the police department.
