Tempe Police offering hiring bonuses to shore up department

Up to $5K on the table for transfers

Like most industries in 2022, the Tempe Police Department is having trouble hiring officers to complete the department.

In an effort to combat the issue, Tempe Police is offering bonuses for new hires. Lateral hires will earn $5,000 and $3,500 will be bookmarked for recruits.

While lateral applications are open year-round, recruit applications are only open from March 9 through April 6. Applicants must be 20.5 years old and will need to pass through a rigorous testing process.
