Tempe PD mourns officer who fought cancer

Tempe police officer Drew Nystrom, who had cancer, was laid to rest last week.

The Tempe Police Department stated that Nystrom “served the Tempe community with quiet strength, deep compassion and unwavering dedication.”

Nystrom began his career in Tempe in 1999 and after a brief time away, returned in 2007, “faithfully serving until his passing.

Tempe PD mourns officer who fought cancer

Tempe police officer Drew Nystrom, who had cancer, was laid to rest last week.

The Tempe Police Department stated that Nystrom “served the Tempe community with quiet strength, deep compassion and unwavering dedication.”

Nystrom began his career in Tempe in 1999 and after a brief time away, returned in 2007, “faithfully serving until his passing.

“Drew was a devoted public servant, who worked as a field training officer in patrol and as a detective in the criminal investigations bureau.”

He specializing in document crimes.

“Beyond the badge, Drew was a loving father and devoted husband. Even after his cancer diagnosis, Drew faced each day with courage and grace,” the police department release stated.
