Tempe PD investigate shooting inside home near high school
Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday afternoon at a home, forcing the lockdown of Marcos de Niza High School.
Authorities received a call about 2:40 p.m. Aug. 28 regarding a shooting near South Lakeshore and East Westchester drives, Tempe police said.
“Preliminary investigation found there was a domestic violence incident that became physical, and ultimately the female subject shot her boyfriend,” police said in a release.
The woman left the scene and called 911. When officers arrived, a man was found inside a home with a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The high school was placed on lockdown for a short period while officers cleared the area.
