INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A romantic relationship ended in a deadly shooting last week, and Tempe police said they have a suspect in custody.
Adrian Aguilar, 20, was medically cleared this week by hospital staff and booked on one count of first-degree murder. He is in the Maricopa County Jail, police said.
The victim was an 18-year-old woman with whom he was in a romatnic relationship police said, adding they are not identifying her at this point.
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting that occurred about 8:15 p.m June 15 near Interstate 10 and Broadway Road.
The suspect and victim had “an unknown altercation” inside a car, and police allege Aguilar shot the woman several times.
“The male then exited the car, walked away and ultimately shot himself before being located by officers,” police said in a release.
