Tempe passes nuisance ordinance amid supporters, opponents

The Tempe City Council unanimously passed an update to a  city nuisance ordinance aimed at enforcement on private property during its May 14 meeting.

Some residents see this as positive, with short-term rentals and college students creating noise disturbances in the city. Others say that the ordinance could disrupt public gatherings that charities host to feed the homeless as some consider those disturbances in neighborhood parks.

Daley Park neighborhood residents attended the meeting dressed in red with custom shirts that had a silhouette of trees on the back and the words “DALEY PARK” across the chest.
