Tempe parents indicted for severe child abuse

Tempe parents indicted for severe child abuse

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that 34-year-old Brittney Furch and 36-year-old Demetrius Jones have been indicted for severely abusing their two children.

Tempe Police Department were called on Nov. 25 to a local hospital where a 4-year-old child and a 12-year-old child were being treated for serious injuries including bruising, swelling and signs of nonfatal drowning, according to a release from the county attorney’s office.

The two adults face two counts of child abuse, a class two felony and a dangerous crime against children, and four counts of child abuse, a class four felony.

Furch remains in custody on a secured appearance bond of $100,000 and Jones’ bond is set at $75,000, secured, according to the release.
