Tempe Fire Medical Rescue on Saturday celebrated the grand opening of a fire station at Hardy Drive and Southern Avenue.
More than 200 residents came out to tour the station and meet firefighters.
The new station replaces a 1972 building designed for just two fire trucks and 10 crew members. It features six truck bays, dorms for 16 firefighters, advanced life support capabilities and dedicated space for a hazardous materials response team.
It also includes decontamination areas and a Smart Dorm Alerting System.
