Tempe Mayor Corey Woods is speaking out against a mailer sent to thousands of Tempe residents earlier this week.
The mailer from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport was regarding the proposed entertainment district in negotiations at Priest Drive and Rio Salado Parkway, which would be the future home of the Arizona Coyotes if approved. The airport has come out against the development due to a 1994 agreement between Phoenix and Tempe since the area is in the middle of the flight path.
The entertainment district aims to bring over 1,500 residential units to Tempe. The nearly $2 billion entertainment district comes with a 30-year commitment from the Coyotes to stay in the new arena.
