Shopping spree helps back-to-school needs

When Tempe Marketplace searched for a family to help out with back-to-school shopping as a way to give back to the community, the shopping center reached all the way to Surprise to aid a struggling grandmother.

Cherie Norris was making ends meet just fine as a heart monitor technician at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Phoenix when a big life change came out of nowhere.

Norris’ troubled adult daughter dropped off her four kids to grandma one day — and did not plan on returning to get them.
