Tempe little league gets boost from big sponsors

DIRECTV, LeagueSide provide financial assistance

A television giant has partnered with a community sports sponsorship platform to give kids a chance to play sports, including in Tempe.

DIRECTV and LeagueSide joined forces this past year to financially support 18 community sports leagues across the Phoenix area during the Spring 2022 season, giving more than 19,000 athletes the chance to play without any barriers to access. One such beneficiary was the Tempe Rio Salado Little League, which supported 250 baseball and softball players in Tempe.

Evan Brandoff, co-founded LeageSide in 2015 in Philadelphia with Zubin Teherani and now serves as its CEO.  The two realized that many community sports couldn't operate without sponsorships. Today, LeagueSide has a network of over 20,000 youth sports organizations across the U.S.  and has raised over $20 million in sponsorships.
