Tempe History Museum shines light on history, culture of Guadalupe

Tempe History Museum looks to extend the run time of its featured exhibit, “Guadalupe: Where Three Cultures Flourish,” which delves into the town of Guadalupe and was created in partnership with the Guadalupe Historical Society and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.

Tempe residents frequent Guadalupe Road, but many may not be aware of the rich and longstanding history its namesake town shares with Tempe.

Guadalupe, which closely neighbors Tempe, is known as a center of Yaqui culture, given the town was founded by tribe members fleeing Sonora in the early 1900s. Today, the town recognizes its Yaqui, Mexican and agricultural roots with its motto “where three cultures flourish.”
