Tempe History Museum’s African American Advisory Committee will present its 10th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 17, at the museum.
The free family-friendly event, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature hands-on activities and performances, table displays, storytime, a video game trailer, first responder vehicles, a food truck vendor and more, a press release explained.
Juneteenth marks the historic day of June 19, 1865, when enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas finally heard they were freed from slavery, more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
