Tempe heat-relief program receives federal funding

Tempe has accepted $50,000 into its budget to aid in the operation of heat-relief services.

Explained in a city report, the city, with Mayor Corey Woods’ ardent support, is entering into an agreement with the Maricopa County Human Services Department to provide Tempe with assistance from recovery funds disbursed through the American Rescue Plan Act.

City council approved the agreement on consent at its May 18 meeting.
