The city of Tempe sees patio weather in the not-too-distant future, and it is offering businesses who would like to play host to live music this fall, winter and spring an offer to save hundreds of dollars.
Live music permits are being offered for a one-time fee reduction through March 1.
The $1,671 fee has been cut to $200, city officials said in a release.
“By reducing the cost of the permit, it's hoped that more businesses will hire more musicians and offer more entertainment,” the release stated.
Businesses interested in the discounted live music permit should complete an application and include a letter of explanation with the entertainment options being considered and a floor plan of the site. Visit: Use Permit.
The application needs to be approved by the Development Review Commission, a process that includes a public hearing.
“Live music is part of what makes Tempe special,” Councilmember Joel Navarro said.
“Making it easier for businesses to hire musicians not only helps the business, it grows our art scene and our economy.”
