Tempe council member requests data after questions about county elections

Tempe Councilmember Randy Keating has demanded that Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap preserve all records for litigation following a video of two employees allegedly removing a tabulation machine on March 12 while ballots from the city council election were being counted.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors stated two employees were caught via closed-circuit security cameras moving a tabulation device out of the Maricopa County Tabulation Center and putting it into an unmarked pickup truck, where it left the property for approximately 50 minutes before returning.

Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap filed a lawsuit on Monday after the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation of the incident. Keating is seeking to hold those involved accountable.
