Tempe council appoints DeArristia city clerk

Kara DeArrastia has been named Tempe’s city clerk after serving in the job on an interim basis since February.

The city council made the appointment at its Oct. 26 meeting.

DeArrastia started her career in the Tempe City Clerk’s Office in 2013 as executive assistant. She was promoted to deputy city clerk in 2019.

The clerk’s office is responsible for preparing official agendas and recording proceedings, resolutions, regulations and ordinances passed by the council. It also oversees city elections and administers oaths of office.
