Tempe is seeking community input on the proposed update to its Historic Preservation Ordinance, which protects historically significant properties and archaeological sites.
Residents and other community members are invited to share their thoughts about the proposed changes by taking a survey or attending the city’s upcoming meetings, according to a city release.

Tempe is seeking community input on the proposed update to its Historic Preservation Ordinance, which protects historically significant properties and archaeological sites.
Residents and other community members are invited to share their thoughts about the proposed changes by taking a survey or attending the city’s upcoming meetings, according to a city release.
Some proposed changes include:
Increasing the maximum length of stays on issuing demolition permits for some properties
Waiving application fees to designate a property in the Tempe Historic Property Register
Expansion of the definition of Archaeologically Sensitive Areas
Staff will collect feedback at two coming meetings:
12 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, Virtual Meeting
6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26, Tempe Public Library, Desert Willow Room, 3500 S. Rural Road
If you are unable to attend the meetings, the city will make available a recorded presentation, all project materials and an online survey from Sept. 27 through Oct. 9 at tempe.gov/HistoricPres, the release noted.
