Tempe City Council election winners declared

Chin, Adams and Hodge will start terms in June

The Tempe City Council election has come to a close and the three open seats have been filled. 

Following the March 8 election, all votes have been counted. Jennifer Adams, Arlene Chin and Berdetta Hodge have won seats on the council. 

Chin, who previously was appointed to the council and will be the first Asian American woman elected in Tempe, earned 11,873 votes. Incumbent Adams won 11,563 votes. Hodge, currently a member of the Tempe Union High School District governing board, avoided a run-off with 10,107 votes. She will be the first Black woman elected to the council.
