Tempe City Council election: Polls closed

Mail-in, in-person ballots counted

The polls are officially closed in Tempe and vote counting is in process.

The Tempe City Council primary election is underway to fill three open seats.  To determine the winners among the candidates, the Maricopa County Elections Department will calculate the total number of actual votes cast for all candidates for an office, divide the sum by the number of seats to be filled for the office, and divide the number by two and round to the highest whole number.

If all three seats don't have clear winners on Tuesday,  a general election will take place May 17.

The candidates are:

  • Gina Kash
  • Jennifer Adams (incumbent)
  • Casey Clowes
  • John Skelton
  • Harper Lines
  • Berdetta Hodge
  • Arlene Chin

Terms for the newly elected will begin in June.
