Tempe Chamber of Commerce president elected to national chamber board

Colin Diaz, president and CEO of the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, has been elected to serve on the board of directors for the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, an association of over 9,000 professionals who work for and with more than 1,600 chambers of commerce.

Members of ACCE’s board of directors represent more than 50 organizations, including many of the world’s largest and most influential regional chambers of commerce, a press release stated.

“At a time when the role of chambers of commerce has never been more critical, the future is limitless for ACCE and the chamber industry,” said Sheree Anne Kelly, president & CEO of ACCE in the release. “Colin’s expertise and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to optimize our opportunities and expand the pivotal role chambers play in shaping and strengthening our regions globally."

Before moving to Tempe and taking the helm of the Tempe Chamber, Diaz was the CEO and president of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce in Culver City, Calif. In addition to his chamber experience, Diaz has over 20 years of management, marketing, sales and community outreach experience.

His range of educational, professional, and practical experience allows him to be in tune with current trends and technology, while still being rooted in the sound practices that have led businesses for decades, the release stated.

With an MBA from Duke University and an MFA from Chapman University, Diaz has a wide set of skills and knowledge in both business and the arts. He also currently sits on the Western Association of Chamber Executives Board of Directors as a member of the executive committee.

In addition to this regional appointment, Diaz is the only accredited chamber executive in the Valley, the release noted.
