Downtown Tempe Authority hosted its inaugural Pride Party on June 3 with the city’s support after years of supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
Tempe is known as one of the Valley’s more progressive municipalities, leading in inclusive policies and providing its residents, regardless of their background, with community support.
Although the legalization of same-sex marriage in Arizona came in 2014, Tempe had been offering benefits for city employees and their domestic partners regardless of gender since 1999, Tempe Tourism Office’s website explained.
