Telegraph Fire at 123,078 acres, 68% contained

The Telegraph Fire in the Globe Ranger District has burned 123,078 acres and is 68% contained as of June 15. The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. June 4 south of Superior, was human caused and is under investigation.

A total of 1,008 personnel are fighting the fire, which has burned 22 structures, according to the website for InciWeb, an interagency all-risk incident information management system.

“Overnight structure protection crews in the El Capitan area protected values at risk. During the night fire burned through El Capitan from the west and north, then later moved through the area again from the southeast. Structure protection crews are in place and will continue to mop up and secure values at risk,” it states. “About two miles south of the Grantham Ranch dozers constructed a containment line from SR 77 east to the San Carlos Reservation boundary. The containment line was extended into the reservation to the edge of the Mescal Fire by hand crews. Firefighters will improve, mop up, and hold this containment line today.”
