Tee box changes in Sun City West conserves water

Water use changes on golf courses

A major turf removal and irrigation project is nearly complete in Sun City West, one that will not only change the look of the course but also conserve water.

Recreation Centers of Sun City West Environmental Services Manager Todd Patty said one major change to Grandview Golf Course, 14260 W. Meeker Blvd., are the addition of island tee boxes. Prior to the island-style boxes, watering was going out of the tee box.

“Now we have a head on the tee box and we are just watering the overseeded area, which allows us to have a more targeted area where we are putting water,” Patty said.
