Phoenix-based companies are feeling the heat when it comes to new tariffs on steel as it relates to the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning business.
Phoenix-based Benefit Air Conditioning LLC, like many in the industry, has the “vast majority” of parts that are not made in the U.S., leaving it particularly susceptible to tariffs announced by the federal government in February, said Paul Howard, the company’s general manager.
The company relies on both refrigerant and electric circuit boards which come from overseas, and any delay in delivery could mean longer lead times for repairs or installations, Howard said.
