Tamale bill gets mixed reviews from state, local law makers

Gov. Katie Hobbs signed “the tamale bill” Friday, much to the consternation of Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega.

The the cottage food industry bill - more commonly known as the tamale bill - expands the types of food that can be sold after being made in home kitchens, to include products such as those with meat in them, according to a report from the Arizona Capital Times .

While Hobbs has remained silent about signing the bill into law Friday, Ortega has not been shy about stating his opinion of it.
