Taliesin West landmark in north Scottsdale transforms during COVID-19 pandemic

Foundation readies reinterpretation of site experience

Scottsdale’s own UNESCO World Heritage Site --- Taliesin West --- has gone under some changes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, helping visitors to rediscover the past and legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Leadership at Taliesin West in north Scottsdale decided to take the time to provide cosmetic tweaks to the site. This project lead by Emily Butler, the director of preservation for the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, explains the goal behind the reinterpretation of the local landmark.

“The goal of each phase was to gain a better understanding of how Mr. Wright lived his life. So, we took stock of items that we still have and ask ourselves how we can bring that life back to Mr. Wright’s home, so others can have a better experience,” Mrs. Butler said.
